A Book Review of Lisa Lloyd’s “Chasing Famous” and Prize Pack Giveaway
My life has taken several turns lately that have me feeling like a dog chasing its own tail. Round and round in circles but never quite accomplishing what is right before me. I have been overwhelmed, exhausted, and feeling defeated because there are never enough hours in the day. Every day when I wake I think, today I will work on the things that I am so behind on. I start off with a great mindset believing, today will be the day! I begin my tasks and then “life” happens. First, one thing distracts me, and then another, and another. Before I know it I am buried in my endless and ever-growing “to-do” list. My aspirations of accomplishing the things I am most passionate about, that weigh so heavily upon me, get put on the back burner. Can you relate to this?
Every morning I pray and ask the Lord to help me carry out what He would have me accomplish. The book that I have been working on for over three years still lays unfinished. Yet I want to honor Him and write the book He placed upon my heart. The message that wants to spill from my soul, the one the Lord wants me to share sits on my “to-do” pile gathering dust.
So I ask myself, “Susan, where do you think the Lord is leading you? If He gave you the words to share He also gave you the resources to complete it. What is stopping you? What keeps you from finalizing the book that you know will touch lives because the Lord placed it upon you.” After some reflection, I realized that fear is holding me back. Fear of disappointing the Lord. Fear of not measuring up. Fear of the unknown. Fear of not being adequate enough. Am I intentionally finding distractions? Don’t I trust that if He brought me to it, He will bring me through it?
My book writing has been a journey and at times a real struggle. This book has been on my heart for a long time. The Lord has whispered to me that the words I have written, the struggles I have lived, are meant to be shared. How can I say no to that? To Him? I am getting very close to being done with the book that has occupied my soul. Fear still lingers in my moments of weakness but I am confident that the Lord will guide me through this journey. I need to refocus on Him when fear is staring me in the face.
I had the honor of virtually meeting Lisa Lloyd during an online course we took together. She shared her book trailer for her first book, “Chasing Famous” and I was so captured by her message that I happily volunteered to be on her book launch team. It was such a wonderful experience and blessing! Her book spoke to me and also helped me with the struggles I experience regarding my own book and the fears I have faced. Lisa’s words validated my heartfelt desire to glorify and honor God not only with my book but my life. We need to be
Lisa’s words validated my heartfelt desire to glorify and honor God not only with my book but my life. We need to be obedient to Him, trusting Him with all that we do. He needs to be center stage, the light upon Him, streaming out to bless others. I love how she gives real life examples of how to implement this in our lives, how to keep God front and center. She does this by sharing great stories of biblical characters and her own life experiences.
Lisa’s message reminds us that it’s not about us and that we need to shift our focus to Him. This reminded me of my book, that I can’t allow fear to hold me back from what He has placed upon my heart to glorify Him.
“Chasing Famous” by Lisa Lloyd is an amazing and empowering book! Lisa uses her faith, acting experience, real life “characters” from biblical stories, scripture, her own life stories, and powerful truths to explain the necessity of living our lives to make God famous. She shares how we need to take the focus off ourselves to shine the light on God, to always give Him the glory. She instills in the reader the need to step into the roles the Lord has created for our lives, not with the intent to make ourselves center stage but to magnify Him.
The Lord needs to be center stage of our life today and always.
Lisa is very raw and honest in sharing her own life struggles in a vulnerable and authentic way. She opens her soul to walk the reader through some difficult times that the Lord used to shed the light on Him. “Chasing Famous” gives countless examples of ordinary people in the Bible that the Lord used to bring about His purposes. We are the vessels He uses to bring about His plans and desires here on earth.
Lisa shares her life stories with an honest, relatable, and sometimes humorous voice. I love how she brought me right into her story using everyday life examples to convey her message of God being the center stage of our lives. I had so many “ah-ha” moments reading Lisa’s book, saying “Yes I have been there too! I have lived through this very thing, I am not alone!” I felt like I was having coffee with a friend swapping life stories together. I feel I walked away with a much better insight into the stories of the Bible and how they are all still applicable and relatable today. Lisa provides takeaway questions at the end of each chapter, which I really enjoyed. I feel it gave me the opportunity to implement and apply the wisdom and truths of what I read.

I love these quotes from Lisa Lloyd’s book, “And so as you repeatedly “trust fall” into the arms of God, you multiply the fame of Him to all who watch. May we say, “I’m gonna walk into my tomorrow, confident that the God of my yesterday is with me.” “And because of our radical trust, may we make God famous.” “Our purpose on this earth has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Him to live for the fame of God’s holy name.”
I loved “Chasing Famous” and feel so blessed by the faith-filled messages Lisa conveys throughout the book. It’s not about us, it’s all about Him and what He does through us to bring about His glory. Keeping the Lord as center stage keeps us centered on Him and the works He is fulfilling in us. Lisa Lloyd has written a beautiful book that I know will touch countless lives, all for His glory. He is in pursuit of us, we exist for Him, to glorify Him and His biblical truths. I highly recommend “Chasing Famous”!
