If you are interested in growing your faith, nourishing your family life, and discovering the beauty of God’s design….you are going to like this bible study.

Sarah releases one new blog post per week (on Tuesdays) and she will always write a personal e-mail to subscribers on Saturday morning. You will find that the blog posts are longer and more polished, while the Saturday SOULfood e-mails are shorter and more personal.

Sarah shares below what prompted her to develop and offer this awesome bible study.

“But first, I want to share some of the reasons why I fell in love with this particular passage of Scripture and what motivated me to write a study on it.

I love flipping through the book of Psalms when I am stressed or overwhelmed. It is the place I go when I need a quick pick-me-up. But I rarely spend much time truly studying the Psalms, digging beneath the surface and searching for the treasure within.

I’ve always known Psalm 119 was the longest chapter in the Bible, but that is really all I knew. And truthfully, it’s sheer length was a bit overwhelming to me. I didn’t really understand why it was long or what it was about, so I just sort of skipped over it.

But that all changed about 6 months ago when my pastor preached a sermon on Psalm 67. I’m not very good at sitting still and listening, so I started flipping through my Bible and reading different passages I had underlined in blue ink over the years.

I worked my way through Psalm 68:19, 86:5, 97:10, 103:17, and 107:19 before I landed on Psalm 119:9, “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.”

Something about this verse captured me, it met me right where I was at, and beckoned me to dig deeper. I kept reading, soaking in the truth like a traveler in the desert longs for a drink of cool water…and before I knew it, I had read through all 176 verses of Psalm 119.

The psalmist was so passionately committed to studying God’s Word, so in love with his Creator, so devoted to following God’s ways….I was absolutely captivated by him and I felt an immediate connection with him.

In lieu of sermon notes, I scribbled these life-changing words in my journal: “Psalm 119 – The prayer of my heart! Break down into sections and study/pray for 30 days.“

Months have passed since that day, and Psalm 119 has faithfully pursued me through the ups and downs of life. My study proved to be more fruitful than I could have ever imagined, and I am beyond excited to share the beauty of this unique passage of scripture with you.” by Sarah Koontz.

Sarah shared the following in the study that really spoke to my soul:

“The more time we spend in God’s presence, the more we will desire purity in every aspect of our life. God’s presence brings light into our darkness, companionship into our loneliness, and purpose into our pursuits. By writing God’s word on our hearts, we are placing a protective border around our purity; this singular choice sets off a beautifully complex chain reaction in our life.” by Sarah Koontz
