Each and every year at Christmas I find myself getting wrapped up in the presents, instead of being present. I get swept away in the flurry of the "to-do's" and the "have-to-get-done's", following a lifetime of traditions. The decorating of the tree, hanging the lights, writing out Christmas cards, baking Christmas goodies, and buying that "perfect" gift for that special someone. Every year I say, "This year is going to be simplistic, this year I am not going to do all the things I normally do because it is expected. I am just going to celebrate the reason for the season!" And yet another year passed by that I didn't follow my true hearts desire. Instead, I got wrapped up in the presents and didn't remain in the presence of loved … [Read more...]

A Flood of Healing by Joel Osteen
I met a lady a couple of years ago after the service. She was in town for treatment at M.D. Anderson, a cancer hospital in Houston. She was going to have a tumor removed, and then she was going to have to take chemotherapy. All of her medical records, blood work, and X-rays were shipped from her hospital back at home. The doctor she was seeing here wanted her to retake all the tests and redo all the X-rays just to double- check and verify her diagnosis. She was already scheduled for surgery when the doctor called her in. He had received the test results and couldn’t find the tumor anymore. It was very clear on one X-ray, but on the new one, you couldn’t see anything. He said, “I’ve been doing this for 26 years. I have never seen … [Read more...]
The Beauty of Brokenness by Holley Gerth
John 20:27-28 Then He said to Thomas, ” Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Stop doubting and believe. ” Thomas said to Him, ” My Lord and my God!” There’s an old story about two pots. One was perfect in every way. The other had cracks and broken places. Each day a woman filled the pots with rainwater she had collected and then carried them down the path to her home. The first pot felt proud that she never spilled a single drop. The other felt ashamed because no matter how hard she tried, she lost a lot along the way. One day the two pots overheard the woman talking with someone who lived nearby. The neighbor exclaimed , ” The flowers along your path are so beautiful! … [Read more...]
Dear Jesus by Sarah Young
Taste and see that I am good. The more intimately you experience Me, the more convinced you become of My goodness. Dear Jesus, I have been taught since early childhood that You are good. However, that teaching did not change me significantly. Eventually I became a Christian, and I tasted Your goodness briefly. Yet I still did not know You very deeply. As a result, when things went badly in my life, I tended to resent Your ways with me. Only when I began investing time in seeking Your Face did I start to know You intimately. Now that I have tasted Your goodness, I want to experience more and more of You. Beloved, your desire to know Me more fully is a delight to My heart. Actually, I have been pursuing you for quite some time. Long … [Read more...]
