I have had the great pleasure of being coached by Lindsey Hartz, with Lindsey Hartz Creative. The course, Spark Mentoring, was a flagship program that walked writers through the process of prayer, reflection, response and action in the writing ministry and journey. It was truly a game changer for myself and my writing. I had been feeling stuck and frustrated until the Lord led me in the direction of Lindsey! I loved that it was Christ-focused. Lindsey and the other members and I prayed over each other and our personal writing issues. I discovered the blocks I had been stumbling over in my writing and how to remove them. God's vision for my book became clearer to me and how I needed to trust Him with what He has placed upon my … [Read more...]
The True Reason for the Season
“Oh, Come Let Us Adore Him “ Christmas is quickly approaching! For those that celebrate this sacred and joy-filled time of year, it is often faced with mixed emotions. On the commercial end of Christmas, it is a frantic scurrying of gift shopping, cooking, baking, card writing, decorating, traveling, and event planning. We can get caught up in the details of all these “traditional ways of celebrating” and end up feeling stressed and overwhelmed. We can get so immersed in the activity of preparation that we miss out on the joy of the meaning behind Christmas! We are so laser focused on purchasing that perfect gift for Uncle Tom and daughter Rebecca that we can lose sight of what the “true gift” really is. We run desperately from store to … [Read more...]
Book Review for “Broken Crayons Still Color” by Shelley Hitz
I recently had the honor to read the book "Broken Crayons Still Color" by Shelley Hitz as part of her launch team. What a blessing! Shelley bares her soul, sharing her raw stories of brokenness and the transformation and beauty God brought from it. As she states in her book, "Broken crayons still color." Her powerful message really spoke to my heart. I too have endured and experienced brokenness in my lifetime. Maybe you can relate to this? I have experienced wounds upon my soul that have left me feeling hopeless, lost, alone, and shaken to the core. I felt broken. Damaged. Unloved. Unwanted. Undeserving. Some of what I have lived was inflicted upon me, others happened due to my own poor life choices. Through it all there was … [Read more...]
Do You Need A Spiritual Checkup?
Life has a way of testing us, tying us up in knots and challenging our faith. We come up against countless battles in our everyday lives. Words are hurled in our direction like fiery darts; circumstances occur that take our breath away and cause us to question our beliefs. When insults and accusations are spewed at us, we want to strike back, we want to retaliate with like insults and say what's burning on our tongues in that moment. It's only through our faith and the Holy Spirit within us that can prevent us from reacting in this way. We need to ask ourselves in those tough moments, “What would Jesus say or do?”, “What would I do if Jesus were physically standing next to me right now?” Sometimes these thoughts can change … [Read more...]
Plug In or Unplug? That is the Question
Are we plugged into the things that feed and nourish our souls the best? In this tech savvy world we live in we are continually plugging ourselves into something, in one way or another. One day as I sat with my cell phone and Kindle, both needing to be recharged, some thoughts struck me. Am I too plugged in? Am I plugged into the things that serve my faith best? Am I plugged into things that nourish me the most? Are there areas in my life that I need to completely unplug myself from? On this particular day I had been reading various devotionals, bible verses, emails, tweets, Pinterest pins, and Instagram posts on my devices. They were all Christian based, which fed my soul. I thought of other days that I've gotten lost in "Internet Land", … [Read more...]
