We can’t allow any obstacle we face to overshadow our Lord or what He wants for us. It is said that what we focus on becomes our focus. I personally have had a lot of experience testing this truth out. When our focus is on Jesus and His truths it is impossible to also be focused on any negativity. The Lord and His biblical truths are the nourishment we need to feed ourselves daily. I know when I’m craving Him and His word and desire to spend time with Him, any stronghold I’m facing will lose its tight grip. All the details of the day, all of my woes, become insignificant when I am looking upon the glory of the Lord. I know we have all faced some dire circumstances, or have been confronted with heart wrenching news at some point in our lives. Yet, if that then becomes our focus, wouldn’t we then become immersed in the problem and not the solution? Wouldn’t the affects of these hardships take over and lead us further into the very thing we are wanting to escape from? Couldn’t that cause us to enter into a downward spiral, causing everything to crash down upon us?
The Lord yearns for us to cast our cares upon Him. He didn’t specify, little or life altering cares, just to cast our cares upon Him. In our humanness we are taught by society that we need to be in control and that we are to be problem solvers. We are lead to believe that if we can’t handle our life situations we are weak or incapable. That couldn’t be further from the truth. In our weakness He is made strong. We are made strong through the love and faith of our Loving Lord. If everything in our lives was perfect every day, if we didn’t face any kind of adversity, wouldn’t we then become complacent? Wouldn’t we then feel we had it all under control and we didn’t need His or anyone’s help? Is it possible we could then feel, on some level, that we don’t need Jesus ? I could never imagine my life without Jesus! It’s through our trials, that causes us to lean into Him. And each and every time He shows up and does great things! The Lord is our Protector, Comforter, Confidante, and Savior. His desire is for us to lay down all our baggage at His feet and walk away assured and confident that He WILL take care of every detail. In His perfect timing and ways He will bring victory, He will move mountains for His Blessed children!
We have been misconceived and led astray on this earth. We have been led to believe that if there was a God there would be no suffering. He is not the source! At times He will allow us to remain in a holding pattern so that we learn to depend on and trust in Him completely. Perhaps without hardship in our lives we wouldn’t have the tendency to seek Him out? Through our circumstances we learn to depend on Him and His truths. As we become dependent on Him He leads and guides us. He does answer our prayers. Oftentimes the answers don’t come quick enough for us in our instantaneous lifestyles. Often we may not always like the answers because it’s not the answer we had envisioned. Just remember, He ALWAYS knows best. The Lord is our Redeemer. He will and does fight for us! We just need to let go and let Him do what He does best. It’s in the waiting that we learn. It’s in the waiting that we gain new perspectives. It’s in the waiting that we allow our trust in Him to take over. We often get anxious, yet the Lord is saying, “My child, you can’t be fearful and anxious and truly trusting in me at the same time.”
There are times we seek the “why” of a certain situation. Maybe we aren’t meant to always know the answer to that question? Or maybe if we knew the “why” we wouldn’t be able to accept it? We just need to accept that some of our “why’s” may go unanswered. We need to trust the Lord and His will. We need to trust that anything He does is for a greater good. We all have our moments of being overwhelmed. We all feel that some days are just a burden to bear. Yet we can’t allow our hardships to overshadow our Lord and all that He is. He is greater than anything we face. He is always able. His ways are always better than ours.
The next time you are facing adversity, instead of dwelling on it, hand it over to the Lord. Speak to Him as your Heavenly Father in Heaven. Tell Him your fears, worries, doubts, and concerns. Give it all to Him, let it all out. And then just say, “Lord, I can’t do this without You. I need Your help and intervention on my behalf. I am seeking Your wisdom. I need You in this very moment. Lord, You are greater than what I face. Lord, I am casting all my cares upon You. I thank You in advance for the peace, comfort, and answers you will provide me. I will patiently wait upon Your timing and will. Thank You for all this in Your Precious Name, Jesus. Amen.” Read some bible verses regarding your particular problem. There are verses for every facet of life. As it says in Matthew 7:7 (NIV), “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Take comfort from the truths you find in the Bible. Let the words immerse themselves in your mind. Let His radiant love shine upon you. Allow Him to lead you where you’re meant to follow.
We all face demons of one sort or another. We just have to make the choice whether we will be controlled by them, or if we will demolish their hold upon us. We have a choice each and every day. Each day is a clean slate. Leave yesterday’s trouble in yesterday and your tomorrow’s in tomorrow. Face each day as the new gift it is. Arm yourself with the truths of the Lord. Let your choice be one of victory, no matter what you are facing! We are never alone, the Lord is a constant presence! We need to speak to Him, we need to focus on Him, and keep our focus vigilantly upon His promises. He will never let us down! Let us rise up and out of the things that attempt to hold us down! Let us reclaim the peace we are promised each and every day!
Lord,
We thank You for Your mercy and grace as we wake each day. We thank You for caring about every little detail in our lives. We praise Your Holy Name for eternally loving us without condition. Lord, You bind up the broken and tattered pieces of our hearts and make them whole again. We have been made new because of Your sacrifice. We don’t need to fight for our faith because it’s already been won in You. We praise You Lord. We love you Lord. We pray all this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Rest in His peace,
Susan
