I recently had the pleasure of reviewing Holley Gerth’s new book release of “Coffee for Your Heart”, which was formerly “God’s Heart for You”. I loved it! I have read many of her books over the years and I love her writing style which is beautifully unique and heartfelt. She bares her soul and speaks from a genuinely authentic place. Holley's love for the Lord is so apparent within the pages of her books. "Coffee for Your Heart" is an amazing book of 40 faith-filled reminders of encouraging affirmations of how beloved we truly are to the Lord. Using scripture and life experiences she sheds light on God’s amazing grace in our lives. Each chapter ends with a few soul-searching reflection questions to answer and a beautifully written … [Read more...]
Each Day We Are Given Choices
We can't allow any obstacle we face to overshadow our Lord or what He wants for us. It is said that what we focus on becomes our focus. I personally have had a lot of experience testing this truth out. When our focus is on Jesus and His truths it is impossible to also be focused on any negativity. The Lord and His biblical truths are the nourishment we need to feed ourselves daily. I know when I'm craving Him and His word and desire to spend time with Him, any stronghold I'm facing will lose its tight grip. All the details of the day, all of my woes, become insignificant when I am looking upon the glory of the Lord. I know we have all faced some dire circumstances, or have been confronted with heart wrenching news at some point in … [Read more...]
A Flood of Healing by Joel Osteen
I met a lady a couple of years ago after the service. She was in town for treatment at M.D. Anderson, a cancer hospital in Houston. She was going to have a tumor removed, and then she was going to have to take chemotherapy. All of her medical records, blood work, and X-rays were shipped from her hospital back at home. The doctor she was seeing here wanted her to retake all the tests and redo all the X-rays just to double- check and verify her diagnosis. She was already scheduled for surgery when the doctor called her in. He had received the test results and couldn’t find the tumor anymore. It was very clear on one X-ray, but on the new one, you couldn’t see anything. He said, “I’ve been doing this for 26 years. I have never seen … [Read more...]
Forgiven by Holley Gerth
If you , O Lord, kept a record of sins…who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness. Psalm 130:3-4 I messed up. Again. I sat on the back deck thinking about what a failure I’d been. What must God think of me? I was writing in my journal as I had been every day. Lately, I felt God has been impressing on me to only write good things– compliments people gave me, ways He used me, blessings in my life. I didn’t know why He wanted me to do this, but I felt compelled to do it. But on this morning I sat and stared at the blank page. I began to write about my mistake. I finished and looked at the black and white evidence that I was a failure yet again. Then I seemed to hear a whisper in my heart. “Rip out the page.” I paused and … [Read more...]
Pardon Me
“O God, you know how foolish I am; my sins cannot be hidden from you.” Psalm 69:5 (NLT) You love Christ, but you’ve blown it. Again. Maybe it makes you wonder if this “faith life” is even possible. Or is it just for perfect people who seem to have it all together? Sometimes sin is a taboo topic, but I’m not sure why. It messes with our lives and knocks us off course. Let’s take an honest look at it, and what to do when it happens. In our key verse, King David is aware of his sin. He also knows that others are aware of his sins. That’s a hard place to be. It may make you want to run and hide. It may cause you to turn away from the love of the Savior because you feel “less than.” Despite what others believe or think about him, … [Read more...]
