The Forgiving Heart

Susan 4 Comments

“Someone once said that forgiveness is not for the forgiven, but for the sake of the forgiver. Forgiving those who have wronged you brings a deeper understanding of the character of God. Forgiveness is the cornerstone of relationship with Him. When you hold a grudge, you keep God at a distance. When you let it go, you are restored to Him instantly and inner peace returns. He forgets there was ever a rift between you. If you are struggling tonight, you can release your right to be angry and release the desire to pass sentence on the one who hurt you, for no one is beyond God’s forgiveness. That’s the wonder of His mercy. Follow His example and erase the record of wrong’s. It takes courage, but it will free you to experience amazing joy.” Prayer: God, help me understand your compassion and mercy. Help me see others , as you see them, and turn my thoughts and actions toward forgiveness.Amen. Written by Bethany Publishing House “Moments in the Presence of God”

Forgiveness is one of the hardest things God asks of us…for we are of the flesh and feel that we are OWED and are JUST in holding back forgiveness…look what they did to me…look at how they acted…they do not deserve forgiveness…but if we do not forgive our brother…then how can we expect our Lord to forgive us.
There is a woman we have been ministering to who says that if it is true that Ted Bundy did repent and receive forgiveness…and now sits with the Father in heaven…then she cannot serve a God like that…his murdering spree is not forgivable and thus she is not accepting Christ into her heart…we have tried to get her to see His forgiveness of us and her need to forgive others…but she is in God’s hands now…we will keep saying what He gives us to say to her…but only He can truly set her free…

Thought I would add to this post in a way that brings it down to a personal level. If a person you loved was murdered by a serial killer or a single act of murder, your human reaction would be disgust, hatred, vengence, and retaliation, amongst
other disheartening emotions and behaviors. These emotions are exactly what satan thrives on to bring you to a state of weakness, confusion and the possibility of you yourself being driven away from CHRIST. At this point satan is doing a happy dance. We must have forgiveness for many reasons. The act of forgiving will not only protect your soul but will show the person who committed the crime against your loved one and their family and friends the LIGHT of CHRIST that may lead
to that person being saved. This is the ultimate calling for a CHRISTIAN. It is to bring others to CHRIST. We certainly
don’t want the evilness of the criminal to fester in our hearts and soul. If we do then how can we ultimately bring others
to CHRIST. After the inital period of showing our human emotion we need to step back and remember who really is in
charge. A CHRISTIAN lives by faith and knows the power of our LORD firsthand. Intellectualism has no place in faith. One last note that we must never forget when it comes to forgiveness. Jesus did not want to kill those who killed him. He asked his HEAVENLY FATHER to forgive them because they know not what they do. Let’s never let satan win.
GROW, STAND FIRM and FORGIVE UNCEASINGLY and let your heart and soul soar to a new level of CHRISTIAN
maturity. May you all continue to let your light shine. With Love your sister in CHRIST.

Forgiveness is not an occasional act. It is a permanent attitude. Thought this needed to be said.
